The Part-Time Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator supports Junior Achievement’s mission by expanding and strengthening the volunteer pipeline across K–12 programs. This role focuses on recruiting, onboarding, and stewarding volunteers for in-classroom JA programs, JA in a Day events, Experiential Learning Centers (ELC), and student-focused events. Working closely with the Senior Program Manager and Program Team, this position engages community partners, educators, corporate partners, and individuals to ensure programs are fully staffed with high-quality, mission aligned volunteers.

Impact

This position plays a critical role in helping JA reach more students by ensuring programs are fully supported with prepared, motivated volunteers. By strengthening both recruitment and retention efforts, the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator directly contributes to JA’s mission to inspire and prepare young people for success.

Primary Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach
• Identify, recruit, and cultivate new volunteers for classroom programs, JA in a Day (JAID), ELC rotations, and student events.
• Conduct outreach to corporations, civic groups, universities, and community organizations.
• Represent JA at community fairs, networking events, corporate volunteer days, and professional association meetings.
• Maintain and grow a pipeline of prospective volunteers through targeted outreach campaigns.

Relationship Management
• Build strong relationships with existing volunteers to support retention and increase repeat engagement.
• Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding upcoming opportunities, preparation needs, and program expectations.
• Support corporate partner engagement efforts by helping schedule presentations, volunteer drives, and group trainings.

Volunteer Onboarding & Support
• Assist volunteers through the onboarding process, training modules, and background check requirements.
• Coordinate volunteer placements based on availability, experience, and program needs.
• Provide support and follow-up to ensure volunteers feel confident and prepared before entering the classroom or ELC.

Program Support
• Work alongside the Senior Program Manager to fill volunteer needs for scheduled JA programs.
• Track volunteer commitments, confirmations, and statuses to support program staffing accuracy.
• Assist with day-of event support for large volunteer initiatives (JA in a Day events, ELC days, etc.).

Data, Tracking & Reporting
• Maintain accurate volunteer contact information, records, and activity logs in JA platforms (e.g., BCRM, Volunteer Management Systems).
• Prepare periodic reports on recruitment progress, gaps, and trends.
• Contribute insights to improve recruitment strategies and volunteer engagement processes.

Work Schedule
• Part-time: approx. 15–28 hours per week (flexible based on program season).
• Some daytime travel to schools, corporate sites, and community events required.
• Occasional early morning or evening engagements for volunteer meetings or events.

Location: Hybrid (Community-based, local JA office, remote as needed)

Qualifications (required)

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable with community outreach and relationship building.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work independently.
• Professionalism and ability to represent JA positively with corporate and community partners.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and online communication platforms.

Qualifications (desired)

• Experience in volunteer management, nonprofit work, community engagement, or recruitment.
• Familiarity with K–12 education environments or youth-serving organizations.
• Experience with CRM or volunteer management systems.
